‘Maigh dean mhara is my visual translation of current events affecting the Gulf Coast, a magical place I had the opportunity to spend a large part of my youth. For me, it represents the careless destruction by corporations across the world of childhood memories we have earned through our own innocence. I wanted to express some of the sympathy I feel for the genocide of so many species in the name of money. Lastly, it serves as an emotional outlet somewhat for the toll we should feel of these newly aborted Eco systems, diversity, and values that America, as a Union, should cherish and protect. The Mermaid is a mythical guardian of the sea against the greed of Man.
