Jenny has lived in Midland for the last 10 years. Originally from Australia, she recently gave up her career in computing to focus on creating Art. “Waiting for the Weekend” was inspired by a recent visit to Bay City where I wandered around along the river, down from crowds of people visiting the Art Fair. It was early in the morning, the place was almost deserted, a few people were getting a couple of boats ready to go out, but the boats that drew my attention were all wrapped up, waiting for their “date”.
I have always been interested in creating things; when I was younger I made my own clothes, embroidered and played with various crafts such as origami. These interests took back stage as I focused on my career and raising my family. Over the last couple of years I have discovered a love for painting. I like to play with colors, brush strokes, unusual compositions, and enjoy capturing light in my work.
Two of my recent paintings are in the current 2010 Delta College juried show. “Falling” won a Juror’s Choice prize award.
